We have done some pretty cool tours on the ship. We toured the “back of house” to see the galley, where they store all the provisions, where the crew lives and the amazing laundry. There was an enormous machine that washed, dried, pressed and folded the sheets. We each wanted one until we heard they cost $2M.

We did an in-depth tour of the galley with the executive chef, Martin. We saw the galleys for each of the specialty restaurants, the room service area that is apparently busiest for breakfast and snacks around 2 AM and the main hot and cold galley. The bakery/pastry section was amazing; we were especially fond the gelato making machine.

The best tour of all was the bridge tour. Captain Markus Jurland gave the tour. We were on the wings of the bridge that the captain and his officers use to navigate into and out of the ports – the view was front to back and straight down. He showed us all the safety things that are in place to keep us safe and get us where we need to go. It was fascinating.
Check out the tiny wheel used to steer the ship. It looks like part of an arcade game.
