Victoria, Seychelles – Mar 16

The Seychelles are beautiful. They are an archipelago formed when land drifted away from Africa 80 million years ago. It is Africa’s smallest country and is 99% water and only 1% land. The French and the British colonized them so they speak French, English, and their own Creole language. Seychelles is a mostly Christian country, and it was quite a contrast from the Maldives.

We visited the Botanic Gardens where there is a large population of huge, and surprisingly friendly, tortoises. Then, we spent time taking in the interesting sights and beautiful landscapes.

Wow, that’s so pretty! Looks like it wasn’t so hot there either. Love the pix of the tortoises – I could almost hear them (slowly! 🙂 munching away.
