East London, South Africa ( & Kevin’s Birthday)- Mar 31

Interesting day in East London visiting the East London Museum. We saw the footprints of a child from over 120,000 years ago, a replica of a dodo bird egg, and the famous Coelacanth, a prehistoric fish once thought to be extinct. The museum was like a mini Field Museum of Chicago.

After driving through town we went to Nahoon Point Nature Reserve with a rugged beach and a boardwalk where we had stunning views of the sand dunes and the Indian Ocean.

We enjoyed the beach!

When we returned to the ship we were surprised to see our head chef playing deejay. The staff sang and danced under Viking umbrellas! If you look in the center you can see Mary and Kevin having fun with the crew.

And of course we had to celebrate Kevin’s birthday with a pizza party at the pool!
