Walvis Bay, Namibia – Apr 7 & 8

Lots of adventure, sand, seals, flamingos, and fun in Walvis Bay.

Viking invited everyone on the ship to a dinner in the Namibian Desert. It was amazing!!

There were local singers in their finest, traditional outfits,

a marimba band,

lots of great friends in a beautiful desert setting,

and tons of food and cocktails.

It was a very memorable evening!

The next day we were hanging out with our new seal buddy, Johan,

a surprisingly tame (and agile) seagull,

and a beautiful pelican, during a boat ride in Walvis Bay.

Prepped and ready to kayak among 100s of seals!

So much fun!! The seals were curious and adorable.

In at least one respect, this was a rather rustic experience.

After kayaking we rode through the Namib Desert in a Land Rover with our intrepid guide, Peter.

We spotted a jackal,

purple Namibian sand,

salt pools,

a salt production plant, and

white flamingos!

Wish we could upload the videos of us driving up and down the dunes. It was a wild ride.

This was one of our (unexpectedly) favorite places to visit!
